Constipation can be very uncomfortable & is surprisingly normal.
Do you poo every day? If not maybe you need some gut support.
Why do we need to poo daily? If we don't, our stool sits around in our colon & the body can reabsorb toxins that should have been eliminated. This means these toxins then have to be processed by the liver & kidneys which can overload them.
Basic tips for healthy bowel movements
-
Water; drinking 2-2.5 litres of water means your stool will be nice & hydrated & not firm making it easier to pass.
-
Fibre; ensure you are eating plenty of fibre, at least 30g daily. If you aren't currently doing that, slowly add more. Increasing too fast can overload your digestive system & cause further problems
Fruit in particular is a great source of fibre for the bowel & microbes for the gut microbiome. Other high fibre foods are, legumes, vegetables, wholegrains, seeds & nuts.
-
Movement; exercise assists your digestion by aiding the peristalsis movement of your bowel to move your poo along.
If you have these basics covered & you are still constipated get in contact. There is much we can do including, reprogramming your bowel movements, changing your diet, gut healing, herbal support which can assist you toward normal bowel patterns
